The North Woods Partnership is very pleased to be able to sponsor a two-day workshop on May 14th and 15th with Bea McGarvey on Transforming Classroom Grading. Bea McGarvey is an educational consultant working with educators around the country and Canada in the areas of standards implementation, teaching and learning, and curriculum and assessment. She is a trainer of numerous workshops including Dimensions of Learning and Transforming Classroom Grading. Bea has enjoyed a successful twenty-eight year career as a classroom teacher and central office administrator. Most recently, she served as Director of Instruction for the Portland Public Schools.
On Day 1, participants will gain knowledge regarding:
The Purposes of Grading and Reporting
The Reference Points for Grades
The Sources of Evidence for Grades
On Day 2, participants (within their school and/or district teams) will use the knowledge acquired on Day 1to begin their own work on:
Developing a District/School policy on Grading
Creating a Comprehensive Reporting System
Charting the Course for Further work

Where? St. Peter’s Parish Center on 58 Cedar Street, East Millinocket (If you are coming from Medway, take a right at Rick’s Market. If you are coming from Millinocket, take a left at Rick’s Market. Follow Cedar Street to the end and you will see the parish center.)
Time? 8:00 to 3:00 each day
Food? Muffins and coffee will be available at 7:30 each morning and lunch will be served each day.
